Across three concerts this season, they perform symphonies by Robert Schumann and Haydn; a chamber-music masterpiece by Felix Mendelssohn; New York premieres by Osvaldo Golijov and Gabriel Kahane; a distinctive tintinnabuli piece by Arvo Pärt; an inspired melding of Philip Glass’s Symphony No. 3 with poetry by J. Mae Barizo; and a varied reflection on the United States, featuring music by Ellington, Bonds, Ljova, Copland, and more.
